Thomas Wayne Barnett departed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on May 31, 2026, at his home in Little Rock.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Milling Funeral Home in Union, MS. 

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Bro. Roger Laird, Bro. James McMillan, and Bro. Mike Powell will officiate.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family very much and was very proud of his grandchildren. If he wasn’t at work in Meridian, he could be found watching his grandchildren doing something that they enjoyed such as fishing, riding horses, or squirrel hunting. Tom Loved his Savior Jesus Christ more than anything else he did and wanted to make sure everyone that he spent time with knew where he stood and he wanted to know that they had a relationship with Jesus as well.

Tom joined the United States Army Guard after High School where he served 12 years achieving the rank of Sergeant before getting out of the military at the request of his family. During his working years he worked at a couple of different places to make sure his family had what they needed. His final job was probably the one he enjoyed the most as a Security Training Officer for Ochsner Health in Meridian. In his last days Tom struggled with a lung disease that caused him to ultimately become housebound and unable to physically go to work. This was very hard on him as he wanted to work. Fortunately, his employer made numerous accommodations to allow him to continue work all the way up to his death, which was one of his wishes.

The family would like to thank Keith McCary and Ochsner Rush for the favor they showed Tom and allowing him to continue to work as he wished. We also would like to thank Harpers Hospice of Quitman for caring for him in his final weeks. A special thanks to Heather who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure he could attend his grandson's graduation. This meant a lot more to him than anyone will ever know.

Mr. Barnett is survived by wife of nearly 43 years, Helen Barnett; sons: Lance Barnett (Suzanne) and Tommy Barnett (Whitney); grandchildren: Eli Barnett, Gage Barnett, Landen Barnett, Kyrsten Barnett, and Klay Barnett; brothers: Billy Joe Barnett (Kathy) and Joseph Barnett; sisters: Shay Buntyn, and Hailey Gillis and special granddaughter, Eryn Griffin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Barnett, Peggy Barnett, and Melba Barnett; brothers, Jerry Barnett, Terry Barnett, and Scott Barnett.
