UNION: Memorial services for Ms. Sandra Rae Nowlan Hartzler will be held 11 am, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Faith Apostolic Church in Decatur.

Visitation will be held 10 AM- 11 AM, Saturday at Faith Apostolic Church in Decatur.

Sandra Hartzler passed away peacefully at her home on July 15th surrounded by the love of her family.

Sandra was born on October 2, 1947, at Laird Hospital in Union, Mississippi, to the late Eula Mae Nowlan and Ray Nowlan. She grew up in Clark Venable Baptist Church with her family, in Decatur MS. Her family had a dairy farm and several businesses in town. Her Uncle Smith owned the only movie theater in Decatur and she enjoyed working there selling pop corn & movie tickets as a teenager. She worked for many years at East Central Community College and Ability Works before retiring.

Sandra had a spunky spirit and she was known for her dry wit, often delivering humorous remarks with a straight face! She enjoyed a good laugh, and loved having a good time with those she cared about. Whether she was traveling, shopping, attending concerts, or simply making memories with family, she embraced life. Above all else, her family was her greatest blessing, and she was always thankful for each one of them.

She was a devoted “Mei Mei” to her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. Her love, & encouragement will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Hartzler; her parents, Eula Mae and Ray Nowlan; her son, Kane Humphreys; her sister, Judy Kubbota; and her granddaughter, Kalie Rae.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Kori Thomas; her grandchildren, Kelsie Chisolm (Brandon), Jake Morgan, Kase Loper, and Karlie Stamper; her three great-grandchildren, Kane, Kyleigh Rae, and Katie Rae Chisolm; and her lifelong best friend, Janie McMullan, along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Agape Care Hospice and the compassionate nurses and staff who cared for Sandra during her final days. Their kindness, dedication, and support brought great comfort to Sandra and her family during this difficult time.

A special thank you to Faith Apostolic Church & their ladies group, who have helped take care of Ms Sandra with such compassion and love during her final days. They have truly been a blessing to Ms. Sandra & family.
