Union: Services for Ms. Mary Holyfield will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Bro. Andrew Black and Bro. Rusty Walton will be officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00am, prior to services on Wednesday at Hopewell Baptist Church.

Ms. Mary E. Holyfield passed away on June 11, 2023 at J.G Nursing Home at the age of 99. Mary was the first daughter born to Lee and Bertha Keen Moore on March 14, 1924.

She lived all her life in Newton County. She married Jack Holyfield on December 24, 1949. They lived in the Hopewell Community.

She was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church as long as she was able to attend. She taught Children's Sunday school for many years.

She was a beautician and had a beauty shop at her home for 50 years, which she enjoyed so much. Her customers were just like family to her. The best job she had was working in her yard and flowers, she loved her lawnmower.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was so happy when she had all her family together.

Survivors include her son: Dale Holyfield (Debbie) of Brandon, daughter: Gail Joyner (Danny) of Union, four grandchildren: Stephanie Blount, Stephen Joyner (Pam), Lance Holyfield (Christy), and Lane Holyfield (Josie), seven great-grandchildren: Anna Grace Blount, Macy Joyner, Kaylee Joyner, Jack Holyfield, Christian Holyfield, Reid Holyfield, and Alli Holyfield, and one sister: Loretta Walters.

Ms. Holyfield is preceded in death by her parents: Lee & Bertha Moore, husband: Jack Holyfield, baby daughter, and two sisters: Lorene Nicholson and Lou Walters.

Pallbearers: Lance Holyfield, Lane Holyfield, Stephen Joyner, Michael Holyfield, Artie Foreman, and Mike Harrison.

The family would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during these last few weeks. "We want to thank J.G. Alexander Nursing Home and Quality Hospice for the love and care they have shown our mother. They were like family; we will never forget the love you showed her".
