Lynda Moorehead Gainey, age 76, of Sebastopol, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026.

Lynda Annette Wolverton was born on August 22, 1949, in Sebastopol, Mississippi, to Charlie S. Wolverton and Matilda Jane Purvis Wolverton. A member of Rocky Hill Church of God, Lynda lived a life centered on family and love. She enjoyed trips to the beach and the mountains, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her beloved granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Gainey; her son, Andrew Wayne Moorehead (Kristen) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and her cherished granddaughters, Olivia, Julia, and Magnolia Moorehead. She is also survived by her sister, Audell Dodson; her brothers, Gerald Wolverton (Lorese) and Larry Wolverton (Ange); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will dearly miss her.

Lynda was preceded in death by her former husband, Wayne Moorehead; her mother, Matilda Wolverton; her father, Charlie Wolverton; and her brothers, Junior Wolverton, Charles Wolverton, and Melvin Wolverton.

Visitation will be held at Rocky Hill Church of God on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to your favorite charity or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 101 E Valencia Mesa Dr.,Fullerton, CA 92835.
