Obituary

Graveside service for Lt. Col. Charles D. Scoggin (Ret.) will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church cemetery. Bro. Rick Blythe will officiate.

Visitation will be held 12:00-1:00 pm, Wednesday at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

Charles Donald Scoggin, age 72, retired Lt. Colonel and Pilot of the Air National Guard.

2 Brothers: Clark Scoggin (Libby) of Newton

Sister-in- Law: Betty Joyce Purvis (RT)

He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who he loved dearly

Mr. Charles is preceded in death by his wife: Lee Ann Hollingsworth Scoggin; parents: Joe and Annie Scoggin; one brother: James Scoggin and wife Bobbie, one brother-in-law: Gene Clardy; sister-in-law Marsha (Ed Hedrick).

Mr. Charles graduated Decatur High School in 1966, East Central in 1968 and University of Southern MS in 1970. After Graduation, he attended flight school and became a pilot with ANG for over 30 years, flying 12 or 13 different planes. He was quick to tell how much he enjoyed flying, even to other countries. He was a active member of First Baptist Church in Newton. He enjoyed helping and supporting the local 4-H. He was the past President of Newton County Cattleman`s Association. He enjoyed wood working all his life from flying Jennies to beautiful custom homes. He knew in the 5 th grade that he wanted to be a pilot.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Gideon's International or First Baptist Church of Newton.
