Mr. French passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the age of 80, after living a long and fulfilling life.
Larry was married to Ann Mowdy French for 58 years. During that time, he was employed as a History teacher in Jackson County and Newton County. He also spent several years as a HUD Home Inspection Agent in Newton and Lauderdale counties. He loved to travel in the USA, and he and Ann took many trips with family and friends visiting the beautiful sites in the country he loved. However, the place he loved to visit the most was the Great Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge, TN. He and Ann loved to go to Dollywood and listen to the Kingdom Heirs, a gospel quartet housed there. They always bought season tickets and had in fact become friends with the members of the group. He was a part time disc jockey at the Newton radio station, where he played the best of 80's pop and country favorites. He was a member of Lucern Congregational Methodist Church and was attending Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. Larry was strong in his faith in God and knew that this life was not the end. He loved his family and friends and always prayed to be able to see them again in heaven.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ann Mowdy French of Sebastopol; one son, Jason French and wife Lynn of Lake; one daughter, Jade Sharron and husband Chris of Bailey; three grandchildren, Hagan French and wife Stephanie of Lake, Alli Lewis and husband Corey of Lake, and Blake Sharron and wife Dallas of Bailey, and ten great grandchildren.
Mr. French was also survived by four nieces, one nephew, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Trudie Vance French; one grandson, Cade Sharron; two granddaughters, Deborah French and Kaylynn French; one sister, Nellie Burns Williams and two brothers, Perry Lee French and James Robert French.
Pallbearers: Levi French, Josh French, Ken French, Robby Thompson, Pete Graham, and Alex Shepard.
