Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union. Burial will be held in the Union City Cemetery. Dr. Jon Martin and Dr. Marcus Finch will officiate.
A walk thru visitation will be held Sunday one hour prior to the service.
Joe Hollie Cleveland, age 93, of Union, MS passed away on October 30, 2020. He was born on November 13, 1926 to Vesper and Nannie Cleveland of the Rock Branch community.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings- Weldon, Lola, Clara, Cara, and Ned. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Willie Gardner Cleveland whom he loved for 76 years.
He is also survived by his three children- Donny Joe Cleveland, Gloria Payne (Steve), & Shannon McKay (Jimmy); grandchildren- Molly Beckner (Jim); Shelby Jo Martin (Bradley), & Jamie McKay; great-grandchildren- James, Willa Rose, and Peter Martin, and James Beckner and his unborn sibling due in April.
Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union where he served faithfully until his health declined in his late 80's. He served as a deacon, men's Sunday School teacher, choir member, and helped others in the congregation and community with acts of kindness.
He was a retired Veteran of the army and was honored to be part of the MS Gulf Coast Flight in 2013.
Joe owned Union Dry Cleaners and later worked for the Post Office. Joe loved life and always had a song, a scripture, or a smile to share. His interests included fishing, farming, golf, traveling, singing and playing the guitar and harmonica. His family will greatly miss his Christian witness and smiling face.
The family requests that any donations be made to the Samaritan's Purse (Donor Ministries P.O. Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607) or the MS Baptist Children's Home (118 Lowe Rd, Laurel, MS 39443).
