Funeral Services for Mr. Jerry Wayne Williams, 82,  will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Hudson Chapel Church of God with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM until service time.  Burial will take place in the church cemetery.  Bro. LeRay Evans and Bro. Dewayne Dickerson will officiate.

Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma McLemore Williams; brothers: J.D. Williams, Lamar Williams, Hubert Williams, Carleton Williams, Andrew Lee Williams, Clell Williams, Clyde Williams, and Tommy Williams; sisters: Gladys Williams Vance, Sula Williams Gardner, and Ketherleen Williams Dickerson.

He is survived by his brothers: Jim Williams (Nell) and Charles Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers are Terry Vance, Jesse Vance, J O Amis, Brock Dorsey, Tim Dorsey, and Robby Thompson.

Jerry was born the last child of a family of 14 children one year after the beginning of World
War II. He was a baby when his older brothers Hubert and Carleton were drafted into the Army
and Navy respectively. When he was born, he already had several nieces and nephew born to his
older brothers and sister. The Williams family was a family blessed with a strong work ethic and
close family relationships.

When Jerry was only 12 years old, his mother passed away at the young age of 58 leaving him
and one other brother still at home. After about a year, his father married again leaving Jerry to
grow up mostly alone. This was a difficult time for Jerrry.
Jerry was the first member of the John Williams family to finish high school. Most of his
brothers and sisters had all married at an early age and had families of their own.

As long as Grandmother Williams was living, the family held a family reunion every year about
Thanksgiving honoring Grandfather Williams' birthday. Saw horses with boards laid across
them were set up for tables loaded with delicious food with lots of children playing chase around
the table. Grandmother Williams was a fabulous cook and loved by her neighbors.
Jerry grew up with many of his nieces and nephews and attended church at Hudson Chapel
Church of God with family members who went by his house to get him for church. He was
saved as a teenager and joined the church. He was blessed along with several of his nieces to
have his brother-in-law, Delmas Vance, as his Sunday School teacher.

In Jerry's later years, his brother Tommy retired from work and returned home to live with Jerry.
The two of them ate two meals each day at Duett's in Sebastopol. Chicken dumplings was his
favorite meal, and it was served on Thursdays. This became a highlight of Jerry's life. About
ten years ago, Jerry got very sick and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. After a long
recovery, he was finally admitted to Hilltop Nursing facility at Union where he was very happy.
He had a television in his room where he watched the old westerns and the evening weather
report every day. He made sure to go to the nurse's station every day to give all of them the
weather report.

Jerry knew all of his family's birthdays and could remember the date of all special family events.
He reminded all of us about two months ahead of time on the date of his birthday. About three
months ago, Jerry suffered what was probably a light stroke that may have caused him to fall and
break his hip. After surgery on his hip, Jerry never was able to recover. Jerry had a kind, sweet
nature, but most of all he knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
