Obituary

Funeral Services for. Dr. George Pat Bufkin will be held at 10:00am Saturday June 24, 2023 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.

George Pat Bufkin, 91, retired Pastor, went home to be with the Lord with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was married to Shirley Faye Ball on May 25, 1955, and they remained faithful to each other for 68 years.

Bro. Pat was born on June 24, 1932 in Delhi, LA where he graduated from Delhi High School in 1950. He went on to college at Northeast State University in Monroe, LA where he earned a bachelors degree. Wanting to continue his studies, he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity.

Bro. Pat answered the call to the ministry in 1955. He served faithfully as pastor to the following churches:

·         Robinson Baptist Church – Delhi, LA

·         Sardis Baptist Church – Farmerville, LA

·         Salem Baptist Church – Farmerville, LA

·         Zebedee Baptist Church – Rayville, La

·         Braxton Baptist Church – Braxton, MS

·         Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church – Crystal Springs, MS

Bro. Pat was preceded in death by:

His Parents – Issac & Clora Lou Horne Bufkin

His Parents in Law – Jerry & Verlyn Sanders Ball

1 Brother & 5 Sisters

Grandson – Michael Ryan Bufkin

Bro. Pat was survived by:

Wife – Shirley Faye Bufkin

Son – Stephen Bufkin (Dianne)

Grandchild – Jennifer Guy (Jason)

Great Grandchildren

Olivia White

Camdyn White

Maddox Guy

Buddy Donahoe and Dickey Knight

With gladness of heart his family and those he served know it is true to say of Bro. Pat:

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
