Obituary

UNION: Services for Mrs. Gayle Graham Duett will be held 3 pm, Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Bro. Andrew Black and Bro. Rusty Walton will officiate.

Visitation will be held 2:00 pm- 3 pm service time at Hopewell Baptist Church.

Mrs. Duett, 79, of Little Rock died November 8, 2023.

Mrs. Duett graduated from Beulah Hubbard High School. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and serving as a leader for many years with the Triple L. Club, chapter member of Newton County Historical Genealogical Society serving as 1st Treasure. And in 1999, she received the Union Appeal's "Citizen of the Year" award for the Decatur area.

Mrs. Duett was a member of Beulah Hubbard Baseball Association, serving as treasurer. She worked on "Newton County, Ms, A Pictorial History" with Melvin and Betty Tingle.

Mrs. Duett worked at several banks including and served in many positions: M&F Bank of Meridian, Peoples Bank of Ms and went through three merges and one buy out; Eastover Bank for Savings, Sunburst Bank, Union Planters Bank and The Citizens Bank of Philadelphia and the Decatur Branch.

Her hobbies included: genealogy, crossword puzzles and collecting old photographs. She enjoyed family cookouts and get togethers with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Husband of over 59 years: Chester Duett

1 Son: Chet Duett (Diane)

1 Daughter: Meignon "Missy" Hatch (Brian)

6 Grandchildren: Jennifer Perkins (Zack), Johnny Hatch (Lauren), Callie Benton (Steven), Gillis Duett, Elijah Riley (Reagan) and Macie Monk (Tyler)

16 Great Grandchildren

4 Great Great Grandchildren

3 Siblings: Bobby Graham (Dorothy), Janet Lewis (Bob) and Debbie Robinson (John)

1 Brother in law: W.L. Smith

1 Sister in law: Jane Wolverton (Eddie)

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Duett is preceded in death by her parents, Monkey and Carleen Graham, one grandson, Lee Duett; two sisters, Jackie Galloway and Lynn Smith and parents in law: Chester Sr & Macie Duett.

Pallbearers: Grandsons: Gilllis Duett, Tyler Monk, Elijah Riley, Corey Smith, Johnny Hatch, Steven Benton and Robert Frazier
