He was born and raised at Neshoba MS. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force. During his tenure in the USAF he was stationed at several different bases. Notably, he met his future wife, Betty Clatanoff while stationed at Offutt Air Force base in Omaha, Nebraska. Covert and Betty were married December 28, 1951 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, Nebraska. Covert left the military after six years to move his family to Nebraska and work on the Clantanoff family farms. Later, the family moved to Union MS. Covert and Betty both worked at the shirt factory in Decatur. Looking for change the family moved to Dallas, TX so Covert could attend an electronics school. After completing school, the family moved back to Union, MS where Covert repaired TV's and Radios in Ralph Gardner's electric shop. Later he formed Henry's TV Repair Shop and Sales and continued that for a number of years. An opportunity arose for him to buy the Western Auto store in Union. He continued until his retirement as owner of the Western Auto store, where he sold Yazoo Mowers and Radio shack merchandise.
Covert loved the Rock Branch Baptist Church and its family. He was faithful to the church until health slowed him down.
Mr. Covert is preceded in death by his parents, Van and Lucille Henry; wife, Betty Henry, daughter-in-law, Rebecca Henry; sister, Mary Carol Stuart and brother, Harold Wayne Henry.
Pallbearers: William Bell; Tommy Henry; Wes Henry; Michael Lee; Matt Rowan; Jonathan White and Stan Williams
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery fund.
