Obituary

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesady, September 8, 2020, at New Ireland Cemetery.
Rev. Chester Thomas Estes, Jr., aged 85, most recently of Bessemer,
AL, died on Friday evening, September 4, 2020 surrounded by close
family.
He is survived by:
Wife: Shirley Gomillion Estes of Bessemer, AL
Son: Chester (Chet) Thomas Estes III and wife Morgan of Hoover, AL
Grandson: Caden Thomas Estes of Hoover, AL
He is also survived by
one sister-in-law: Donis Gomillion
Numerous nieces and nephews
Rev. Estes is preceded in death by sister: Shirley Hill; brothers-in-law;
Wally Hill, Donald Gomillion and Jack Gomillion; sister-in-law Jo
Gomillion.
Pallbearers: Chet Estes, Michael Germany, Joel Germany, Paul
Sizemore, Bryan Norman, and Kyle Chaney
Rev Estes, born in Sanford, FL,'answered God's call to the ministry as a
teen under the mentorship of W.R. Storie and was ordained by First
Baptist Church, Ocean Springs, MS. He and Shirley Gomillion met and
fell in love while students at Clarke College, Newton, MS. After their
marriage, Rev. Estes was a long-time pastor throughout Mississippi,
Alabama, and Florida. Over the course of his ministry, he traveled the
US and internationally teaching prayer seminars, leading revival
services, and serving pastors as they sought to better equip the
Church to speak and listen to God and how to be a part of God's Great
Commission.
