In Loving Memory and Celebration of Charles Lewis Knight, Sr. 79 years of life.

Entered this Life July 3, 1942

Departed this Life January 12, 2022

Services for Mr. Charles Lewis Knight will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be held in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Rodney McGinnis, Rev. Patricia Carter, and Rev. Scott Engle will be officiating.

Visitation will be held Saturday, from 9:30-11:00am prior to church services at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Charles Lewis Knight was born on July 3, 1942 in Memphis, TN to Lewis & Amelia Knight

Distinguished career in the US Navy for 30 years, honorably discharged as Master Chief, the highest enlisted rank in the US Navy.

His awards and decorations while serving:

  • Naval Achievement medal
  • National Defense Service Medal
  • Sea Service Deployment Ribbon
  • Meritorious Unit Commendation
  • USA Rifle Sharpshooter and Marksman Award
  • Navy Commendation Medal
  • Naval Air Crewman Insignia

He enjoyed serving God through various churches and as a member Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  He enjoyed traveling the country to see what he could see of God's creation and to experience new places, people, and food.  Loved owning and driving many different types of cars; but he especially loved making the best deal.  He grew up in Alabama and one must choose which team and his love of all things Alabama Crimson Tide was born. He especially enjoyed watching Alabama Football from the stadium to his recliner at home. He would expect a high five and a "Roll Tide"!!!!

He is survived by:

Daughter – Melissa Knight

Son – Charles L. Knight, Jr. and his daughter-in-love Tracey Knight

Sister – Carolyn Knight

Brothers – Dewayne Knight and Robbie Knight (spouse - Mev)

Sisters-in-law – Gloria Knight and Mev Knight, Wynette McBeath and Debra Gainey

Brothers-in-law – Malcolm Gainey (spouse – "Dot") and Jimmy Gainey

Along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews

He is preceded in death by:

Wife – Angelia Knight

Father – Lewis Knight

Mother – Amelia Hamil Knight

Sister – Barbara Jean Waldrop

Brother – Jim Knight

Mother and Father -in-law – Merle Morrow Gainey and Troy Gainey

Sister-in-laws – Karen Knight, Sue Gainey Broussard, and Vicky Gainey

Brother-in-law – Kenneth McBeath and Bill Waldrop

His favorite verses was John 14:1-4 from New King James Version of the Bible

He will be missed everyday but especially during Alabama Football games.
