Mr. Leslie, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Charles Allen Leslie, Jr., was born in Meridian, Mississippi on March 17, 1965. He graduated from Sebastopol High School in 1983. Charles, known by those who loved him as "Charlie", worked numerous jobs over his 58 years of life. Many attribute his hard work ethic as his primary characteristic. His life motto was probably "rub some dirt on it", a testament to his belief in brushing yourself off, getting up and carrying on with whatever task was at hand whether that task be on an oil rig, a construction worker, a carpet installer, or any other job he held over the years. Undoubtedly his favorite job though was to cook for his family and friends. His specialty was anything barbecued. "Watch the fillers," he'd say.
His only greater characteristic than his work ethic was his giant heart. He loved with a fierce passion that many of us can only strive to have. He never had to "try" to love any of his family. He just did. No questions asked, unconditionally. He would have given the very shirt off of his back or the last dollar to his name if even one of his loved ones asked it of him.
Akin to his love of family, was his love of Mississippi State. On Saturdays during the fall you'd undoubtedly hear him shouting Hail State, and his Christmas or birthday lists always had a simple Mississippi State item on it. On Sundays, he would root for the Houston Texans, and during baseball season his team was always the Houston Astros.
Charlie lived a full life of love, laughter, and joy and will be so very missed by those who love him.
