Services for Ms. Bobbie Thrash Gibson will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Bro. Matt Clark will officiate.

Visitation will be held 1:30-3:00pm, Sunday, at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Ms. Bobbie Thrash Gibson, age: 90, of Sebastopol, died on Thursday, October 10, 2019.

Survivors: 1 Daughter:  Cynthia Stuart and husband James of Walnut Grove

1 Granddaughter: Jessica Saxon from Sebastopol

3 Great-Grandchildren: Anthony, Christian and Elizabeth Buffington

1 Brother: Charles Cecil Thrash of Sebastopol

1 Sister: Charlotte Able and husband Bill of Sebastopol

Ms. Bobbie is preceded in death by one son: Jesse Franklin Gibson Jr.; husband: Jesse Franklin Sr.; parents: Bob Thrash and Alma Risher Thrash; sister: Dorothy Clark; brother: Billy Jack Thrash.

Bobbie T. Gibson: Mother, business owner and teacher.

Growing up in Mississippi in the depression era was no easy task.  Mrs. Bobbie fought through the depression, milking cows before school, picking cotton, and surviving. Her father, Bob Thrash had often said, "If it would not had been for Bobbie Joe we would not have had the place."  Times were hard and work was no stranger to her.

While living in Beaumont, TX and being a mother she worked as a waitress at Kress`s. While working at Kress's, Ms. Gibson was in college and earned her teacher's degree at Lamar University.

Then she pursued ownership in multiply restaurants in Beaumont. Along with the many restaurants, Mrs. Bobbie had multi-distributorships with the Enterprise and Journal newspaper company.

After the death of her husband, Mrs. Gibson returned to Mississippi in the 70s to 2 chicken houses she had built.  In the spring, for several years, she and her daughter operated a plant business.  People from all around would come and purchase their tomato, pepper, sweet potato, and flower plants.  She enjoyed talking to people and introducing new plants and ideas.

Ms. Bobbie started the Shitake mushroom business in this area.  At the age of 74, Mr. Gibson retired from working in her chicken houses.  Even after the chicken houses, she maintained a garden.  Work was always her enjoyment.
